Privacy policy

What we collect, what we do not, and who else is involved. Last updated October 5, 2026.

The short version

  • We do not ask you to create an account, and there is nothing to log in to.
  • We do not run a newsletter or a mailing list.
  • We do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.
  • We use Google Analytics to count visits, and Amazon sets a cookie when you follow one of our links to them.
  • If you email us or use the contact form, we keep the message so we can reply.

What we collect

Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and how people arrive. It collects information such as:

  • Pages viewed and the order you viewed them in
  • Approximate location, derived from your IP address at a city or region level
  • Device type, browser and operating system
  • The site or search engine that referred you
  • Clicks on outbound buy links, so we can tell which recommendations are useful

Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to do this. We do not use it to build advertising audiences, we do not run retargeting, and we do not combine it with any other data about you. You can opt out across all sites using Google's browser add-on.

Contact messages. If you email us or submit the contact form, we receive your name, your email address and your message. We use them to reply and for nothing else. The form is also protected against automated submissions by a hidden field and a timing check, which means the time the page was loaded is sent along with your message.

Server logs. Our hosting provider keeps standard request logs, which include IP addresses, for security and reliability. We do not analyze these for marketing.

What we do not collect

  • No accounts. There is nothing to register for and no password to store.
  • No payment information. Nothing is sold on this site. Purchases happen on Amazon, under Amazon's own terms and privacy policy.
  • No newsletter list. We do not have one.
  • No advertising networks. There are no ad trackers, no retargeting pixels and no social-media tracking scripts on this site.

Third parties

Three third parties are involved in running this site:

  • Amazon. Our buy links go to Amazon, and Amazon sets a cookie identifying us as the referrer so that any purchase is attributed to us. That cookie and what Amazon does with it are governed by Amazon's privacy notice. See also how this site is funded.
  • Google Analytics. Described above. Governed by Google's privacy policy.
  • Microsoft (email). Contact-form messages are delivered through Microsoft's email service, so a message you send passes through their infrastructure.

Cover images are loaded from Amazon's content delivery network, which means Amazon's servers see a request from your browser when a page with cover art loads. That is how the Associates terms require us to display them.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies of its own. The cookies you may encounter are Google Analytics' measurement cookies and, when you click through to Amazon, Amazon's own referral cookie. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site works without them, and the only thing that breaks is our ability to count visits.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, and to object to its processing. Since we hold almost nothing — analytics data is not tied to your identity, and the only personal information we store is a contact message you chose to send — in practice this usually means asking us to delete an email exchange.

To make a request, email contact@novelandnarrator.com. We will respond within a reasonable period and will not charge you for it.

Children

This site is written for adults, including adults choosing audiobooks for children. We do not knowingly collect information from children, and there is nothing on the site for a child to sign up to.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top of the page. We do not maintain a mailing list, so there is no notification to send.

Frequently asked questions

Do you sell my data?
No. We do not sell, rent or share personal information with anyone for marketing purposes. There is very little to sell: we hold no accounts and run no mailing list.
What cookies does this site use?
None of our own. Google Analytics sets measurement cookies, and Amazon sets a referral cookie when you follow one of our buy links. You can block both in your browser and the site still works.
Will you email me if I use the contact form?
Only to reply to your message. We do not add you to a list, because we do not have one.
Do you use advertising trackers?
No. There are no ad networks, retargeting pixels or social-media tracking scripts on this site. The only third-party script is Google Analytics.
How do I delete my data?
Email contact@novelandnarrator.com and we will delete any correspondence we hold. Analytics data is not tied to your identity, so there is nothing there to remove individually — you can opt out of Google Analytics entirely with Google's browser add-on.
