Books like Fourth Wing
Three different books get recommended as the next Fourth Wing, and which one is right depends entirely on what you liked about it.
We earn a commission if you buy through the links on this page, at no extra cost to you. Prices come from Amazon and were last checked on October 6, 2026. It does not change which books we pick — see how we choose and how we are funded.

Fourth Wing is doing at least three things at once, and most read-alike lists pick one and assume it was the one you cared about. Before the picks, it is worth saying what those three things are, because it changes the answer completely.
What you probably actually loved
- The brutal academy. Cadets die in the first year and the instructors mean it. If this was the appeal, your next book is Red Rising — and it has almost no romance in it.
- The dragons and the bond. A relationship with a creature that chooses you. A Court of Mist and Fury is the closest in feeling even without dragons; House of Earth and Blood is the other direction.
- The romance. Specifically the slow, antagonistic, high-tension kind. From Blood and Ash and The Serpent and the Wings of Night are built on the same mechanics.
And the honest first answer, which most lists skip because it is not a list: read Iron Flame. If you finished Fourth Wing wanting more Fourth Wing, the sequel is the thing you want, and we would rather say so than pad a page.

What we have not recommended, and why
A great many romantasy books get recommended on lists like this because they share dragons or an academy and nothing else. We have kept the list to titles already in our catalog, which means each one has a verified ASIN, verified narrator credits and a live price. It is a shorter list than it could be. Every entry on it is checked.
